Responsibilities:

  • For all software development engineers, excellent programming skills are required, including the ability to work as part of a team and to use a variety of programming languages, especially Visual Basic/C, and development environments. Knowledge of computer graphics and graphic design skills a plus. Clear communication and writing skills are required.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or extensive experience in the field of structural engineering and/or structural mechanics, with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: structural dynamics, mechanics of materials, nonlinear material behavior, computational mechanics, finite element analysis, and numerical analysis of large linear and nonlinear systems.
  • An M.S. degree or foreign academic equivalent in Civil Engineering and 2 or more years of experience in structural engineering practice with a strong background in: Building and Bridge Design Code, Design process and needs; Computer Applications in Structural Engineering; Computer Graphics; Linear and Nonlinear Finite Element Methods; and Earthquake Engineering.

Job Description

CSI is seeking an experienced bridge engineer to join our development team in California and help expand the capabilities of the CSiBridge product. The chosen candidate shall be self-motivated and have a passion for engineering. This position will include development of new features, as well as improving existing features to make the end user experience more efficient and easy to use.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Manager to understand product requirements
  • Write specs for new features
  • Implement new features per the spec
  • Generation of product documentation
  • Identification and resolution of software bugs
  • Assist technical support team in providing responses to customer enquiries

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in civil or structural engineering
  • 2+ years of bridge design experience
  • Experience with bridge design codes (AASHTO, Eurocode, etc)
  • Experience with Visual Basic, VBA, or other development languages
  • Fluent in English and excellent writing skills
  • United States citizenship or Green Card
  • PE or SE license is desirable

Job Description

Computes and Structures, Inc. (CSI) is seeking an experienced developer to join our development team in Walnut Creek, California where they will be tasked with improving the graphical display in our line of engineering analysis software, using DirectX or OpenGL. The chosen candidate shall be highly motivated and have a passion for computer graphics. This position will include development of new features, as well as improving the existing graphical display to make the end user experience more enjoyable and easy to use.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Development Managers to understand product requirements
  • Implement new features per the spec
  • Identification and resolution of software bugs
  • Build core graphics functionality for reuse in multiple products
  • Optimize graphics logic to achieve high performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science
  • Strong background in 3D graphics
  • 2+ years of development with DirectX or OpenGL
  • Experience with C/C++, VB.Net, or other programming languages
  • Familiar with Windows user interface (WinForms or WPF) development
  • Fluent in English
  • United States citizenship or Green Card

Job Summary:
The Technical Writer gathers and assimilates information for the design, creation, and maintenance of CSI documentation. Audience include CSI software users and the structural engineering community. The purpose of documentation is to present scientific and instructional material in an accurate, well-articulated, and comprehensive yet concise manner. Written product may include website content, technical papers, system manuals, and contribution to the CSI Wiki Knowledge Base where software and structural engineering informational resources are collected, organized, and shared in a searchable online database.

The Technical Writer gathers information by interviewing software development and structural engineering experts among CSI staff, studying scientific literature, participating in relevant industry associations and committees, and otherwise researching subject matter to establish the fluency necessary for effective communication.

Use of CSI software and interaction with users allow the Technical Writer to understand the disposition of audience and elevate their level of understanding. Formatting, stylistic, semantic, and typographic convention are also responsibilities of the Technical Writer.

Primary Duties:

  • Report to Executives and Directors for technical writing tasks
  • Gather information for technical writing through interview, research, and study
  • Assimilate knowledge into organized and logical framework
  • Design, create, and maintain CSI documentation for effective communication
  • Achieve proficiency with online interfaces and software tools used to present documentation
  • Achieve proficiency with CSI Software and understand their function
  • Establish and implement formatting and stylistic convention
